Service Description
State-owned storage platform for application and database needs
OIT-Owned Storage consists of your compute storage for application and database needs, personal and team shared drives, reserved capacity, backups snapshots, and redundancy for disaster recovery. As well, regulated backup retention can be met for compliance and critical and essential services. The service includes:
Storage maintenance
Patch management
Basic monitoring and break/fix (incidents)
Project change orders
Capacity reporting and planning assistance
Storage hardware support and reporting
Management of maintenance and licenses
As of FY23, OIT-Owned Storage will be offered across three performance service tiers:
Standard Performance: The Isilon storage tier provides a balance of performance, capacity, and value to support a wide range of workloads that are infrequently accessed. The typical data that is stored on this tier are file shares, SQL server log files, application data for infrequently accessed applications.
High Performance: The Enterprise Storage solution is the highest performance tier of storage that OIT offers. This tier provides sub millisecond retrieval time for data while providing up to a 5:1 data deduplication. This allows OIT to maximize the use of the capacity purchased. OIT pays approximately 25% more for high performance storage than the standard performance Isilon storage, so the proposed rate utilizes this factor.
Backup Storage: The Backup tier is used for backing up all of the State of Colorado’s data. This is the least expensive and least performing of all of the tiers of data storage that OIT provides. This tier is designed to be as inexpensive as possible while maintaining a level of performance that will allow OIT to finish backups outside of business hours and to meet the Recovery Time Objective, RTO, in the event of an incident that requires data to be restored . Backup storage is approximately 50% less expensive than standard performance Isilon storage, and the proposed rate utilizes this factor.
